An illustrator’s viability comes from imagination – from giving life to ideas. Whether for advertising, editorials, children’s books, storyboarding, comic books, or architecture, illustrators utilize a vast spectrum of media to articulate complex visual narratives.

The Illustration major is modeled around the idea that at the root of developing fluency in these various media is a foundation in drawing and painting. The primary goal of the Illustration major is to achieve a mastery of conceptual abilities in an array of media. The marketplace demands work of extraordinary skill from only the most technically adept illustrators.

As a graduate from the LCAD Illustration Program you will be prepared to meet these demands and to readily adapt your visions in both traditional and technological media.

Our illustration graduates have long distinguished themselves in regional and national competitions and exhibitions. They are the recipients of numerous awards, honors, and corporate partnerships and have gone on to become leading professionals as well as instructors. Our faculty of professional illustrators includes three gold medal winners from both the New York and Los Angeles Society of Illustrators.
