Anne England
Anne England began her creative process in Florida studying and working there until the freedom of lifestyle and expression lured her to California in 1962. Anne received her BA degree from Florida State University and her MFA from Cal State Long Beach. Anne also received a scholarship to Laguna College (as AISC) and Roger Armstrong’s teaching influenced her transparent watercolor painting.
In the last 10 years, Anne has expanded her artistic repertoire by exploring the visual and textural opportunities offered by the printmaking medium. She considers herself a painter who is a printmaker.
Ms. England has had 15 One Woman Shows and 50 group shows. She is co-founder and past president of Laguna Outreach Community Art (LOCA); a six-year board member and past Vice-President of the Sawdust Festival; former member and co-founder of the Artist’s Benevolent Fund and founder of the Sawdust Festival Annual Art Walk. She is also a member of the Ad Hoc Committee of the Festival of the Arts and is an active advocate of Laguna artists, both personally and professionally.
Anne has shown in many galleries, and has her art in both private and corporate collections. Anne says, “My work reflects my feelings about my art, it is an excitement for me, a sort of filling up. It has altered my life by altering my attitude, and given me the courage to be fearless in my creative process. My work is always a revelation to me…it is what keeps me going back to the studio.”
